Speaking of National Philanthropy Day®, this year we will celebrate our 35th year! Look for information about nominations in May!
Did you know that our name officially changed when the National Society of Fund-Raising Executives became the Association of Fundraising Professionals (“AFP WPA”) in 2000? In the same year, the CFRE (“Certified Fund Raising Executives”) designation was launched.
Did you know that our chapter received our first Ten Star Award in 2005? Proud to say, we continue the tradition of excellence with the designation of Ten Star Gold Chapter in 2021! We are also immensely proud of our designation as an AFP IDEA 2021 Champion!
Did you know that the B. Jeanne Williams Scholarship Fund is in memory of B. Jeanne Williams, another founding member of the chapter? As we ramp up our level of scholarships after a challenging year, anticipate an announcement requesting applications for this scholarship.
Did you know that in 2003, AFP WPA joined with the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council to sponsor back-to-back conferences which turned into cosponsoring one conference. Look for an announcement soon regarding the 2021 Virtual Emerging Philanthropy Conference.
Lastly, did you know that the continued success of our Western PA Chapter lies in the ability for our members to give of their time, talent, and energy? If you can lend a hand, help us to celebrate our 40th year by joining a committee!
Hats off to us turning “fabulous 40!”
