Welcome!

AFP WPA is the key resource for fundraising and nonprofit professionals in Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Membership provides access to educational programs, networking opportunities and access to all of the benefits and services of AFP International. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming program!

OUR MISSION

AFP Western PA chapter advances philanthropy by growing a diverse community of people and organizations in the practice of ethical and effective fundraising.

Our chapter has earned the IDEA Champion Designation for 2021 which recognizes those AFP chapters who have accomplished many of the key objectives outlined in the Advancing Inclusion and Influence strategic goal.

We are pleased to announce several scholarship opportunities that are available to our members.

Chamberlain Scholarship

The AFP Foundation offers every AFP chapter one Chamberlain Scholarship, which covers the conference registration to AFP ICON 2022 in Las Vegas. The scholarship is available to individuals who have never attended AFP ICON.

Here's what our last year's recipient, Karyme Garzon-Mahmud had to say about her experience as a Chamberlain Scholar

"As an early career fundraiser, I find learning and networking opportunities fundamental for career advancement; the AFP ICON Summer Sessions had informative, data-backed presentations and wonderful presenters. As a Latina woman, I appreciate AFP’s effort to include sessions about diversity and sessions led by diverse presenters. As an employee of an arts nonprofit whose income has been affected by the pandemic, I am grateful for this scholarship and the opportunity to attend the Summer Sessions. Being a Scholar allowed me to expand my fundraising knowledge and see more diversity in our profession. Thanks AFP Foundation for Philanthropy!” —Karyme Garzon-Mahmud, Assistant Manager of Institutional Giving, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust

Announcements

  • November President's Message

Thanks to all who joined AFP and PPGC for the Emerging Philanthropy Conference and National Philanthropy Day events. The conference had a great lineup of amazing speakers both local and from other parts of the country. The conversations were educational and lively and I'm sure everyone learned a few new tips or tricks or takeaways to implement at your office.
As fundraisers, the last few months of the year are very busy. I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the blessings you have during this giving season and not get so preoccupied with the busy stuff. Your acts of kindness are appreciated by the people, places and things we are honored to support.
To celebrate the end of a crazy year, mark your calendar for Thursday, December 9th for our AFP Holiday Party at Shannopin Country Club. Help us celebrate the accomplishments of your peers and spend some time together.
To that end - let our hearts be full of both, thanks and giving! Thanks for giving your time, talent and treasure for the betterment of our communities. Enjoy some time with family and friends - I hope to see you in December at Shannopin Country Club.

    Best regards,

    Jodie Tabano
    AFP WPA President
