The Director of Development is the chief advancement officer of this leading nonprofit organization with a $3 million annual budget and 38 full-time employees.  The director supervises a staff of 1.5 in the development office and works closely with other senior staff to carry out the mission and the strategic plan of the organization.  This position requires a bachelor’s degree and 7 to 8 years of development experience in nonprofit organizations.  Experience with event planning is needed.

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council has been recognized locally and nationally for the quality of its programs and management.  The mission is better lives through learning.  The organization is celebrating its 35th year of service to the community.  It provides a broad range of adult education and family literacy programs which serve 4,000 clients or students each year.  It has a stable funding base made up of approximately 50% government grants and 50% private sources.  The organization is experiencing healthy growth at this time.
