Senior Director of Development
The West Virginia University Foundation, Inc., a non-profit specifically designated to aid, further and support the work and purposes of West Virginia University, is seeking an accomplished professional to join our fundraising team as Senior Director of Development for the WVU Cancer Institute at West Virginia University Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center.
The Sr. Director of Development will lead a comprehensive, integrated development program to its next level of accomplishment in support of the WVU Cancer Institute's (WVUCI’s) mission as part of the Health Sciences Center at West Virginia University. As the Institute’s development officer, the Sr. Director works closely with the WVUCI Director Richard M. Goldberg MD, FACP, FASCO, on engagement of high potential prospects for support of the Institute’s priority funding objectives. The Senior Director of Development will report to George Omiros, CFRE, CAE, AVP for Development for Health Sciences.
The Sr. Development Director will establish and manage relationships with an active portfolio on average of over 100 high potential gift prospects on behalf of philanthropic support for the Institute. Portfolio prospects will include individuals, corporations and foundations with heavy emphasis on individuals and on gift capacity rating of $100K or more. Quantifiable performance expectations are part of annual performance objectives.
Candidates must have a degree in marketing, public relations, business or a related field and five years of fund raising experience with a proven track record in major gift fund raising from individual, corporate, and foundation sources. Experience in a university health sciences center and capital campaign experience are highly desirable. Strong written, verbal, organization, and interpersonal skills are required. Successful candidates will be self-motivated and possess the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork and communication.
