National Philanthropy Day

National Philanthropy Day® (NPD) is the special day set aside to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy – and those people active in the philanthropic community – have made to our lives, our communities and our world.

NPD was first celebrated in 1986.  The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) is the main sponsor of NPD through its 32,000 members in more than 240 chapters across North America and around the world. Chapters work with local charitable and community organizations to hold NPD celebrations.

A Virtual Celebration of Philanthropy in our Region
November 17, 2021

Since 1986, members and the Board of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) have publicly recognized local philanthropic leaders and celebrated their impact in our community through National Philanthropy Day® (NPD).
This year, as in years past, we look forward to paying tribute to those who change our community—and our world—through their philanthropy. But, we need your help to recognize the outstanding individuals and organizations that have given so generously to improve the lives of others.

This will be a joint virtual event with the Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council (PPGC) as part of the Emerging Philanthropy Conference. The event is to be held on the second day of the Emerging Philanthropy Conference which is co-hosted by both AFP WPA and PPGC.

We are currently accepting applications for:
  • Outstanding Foundation or Philanthropic Organization
  • Outstanding Philanthropist
  • Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser (adult or youth)
  • Outstanding Fundraising Executive
Your nominations and involvement are greatly appreciated.  Details about the awards and criteria can be found here.  Deadline for submission of nomination forms and letters of support is June 30, 2021.
